Craig R. Smith Craig R. Smith is Chair of the Film and Electronic Arts Department at California State University, Long Beach, where he also serves as Professor of Communication Studies and Director of the Center for First Amendment Studies. Smith has served in a variety of academic and non-academic positions, and is the author of many books and scholarly articles on a number of topics.
Smith has received numerous awards and honors in his career, including the Nicholas Perkins Hardeman Award for Academic Leadership; an Outstanding Professor Award from the National Speaker's Association; and the Robert O'Neil Award for the top paper on freedom of expression from the Commission on Freedom of Expression of the National Communication Association.
